Volunteer Opportunities
School Volunteers are very much appreciated for their contributions to the learning process, educational goals, and extra-curricular activities at Zion Lutheran School. Volunteers contribute time, resources, and expertise and provide needed support to help ensure educational success for all children. Lunch servers, assisting a teacher as requested, library helper, and office volunteer are examples of ways you can help.
Being involved in our Parent-Teacher League (PTL) is another great way to help your child’s school and get to know many great parents.
In order to provide a documented, safe and secure environment for students entrusted to us, any volunteer that has the potential to be alone with a student will be required to go through a professional background check.
Save these items…
*Box Tops for Education – Please save the Box Tops for Education labels and turn them into the school office. Zion Lutheran School receives 10 cents for each label turned in. This money is used to buy items for your child’s classroom.
*Campbell Soup Labels – Please send in the UPC from Campbell’s products. If you’re not sure what to send, just send in the entire label. ☺ Thanks for saving!
*Empty Inkjet Cartridges – Empty inkjet cartridges with a print head can be recycled and remanufactured. Our school will receive up to $4.00 for each cartridge turned in. Profits from this fundraiser will benefit the music program. Place the cartridge in a Ziploc bag and put it in the recycle box in the school office.
*Aluminum Cans – The profit from recycling aluminum cans goes towards the 8th Grade Chicago trip.
*Plastic rings from 6 pack soda – Save the plastic rings from 6-pack sodas. The rings are recycled to make new rings and other items. The rings are photodegradable and non-toxic. This helps reduce littler, save natural resources and energy.
*Capri Sun Juice Pouches: We are collecting Capri Sun Juice pouches for $$$$$.

Schnucks eScrip Community Card: Here is another easy way to support Zion if you shop at Schnucks. For every dollar you spend, Schnucks will contribute up to 3% of your purchase amount to Zion Lutheran School.
- Visit Schnucks and request a Schnucks eScrip Community card.
- Activate your card by calling 1-800-931-6258 or visit www.escrip.com/schnucks.jsp.
- Present your card to the cashier every time you shop at Schnucks.
- You can pay for your groceries any way you choose. Simply swiping your card generates contributions from Schnucks to our school.
DIRECTV4Schools: We have enrolled in the DIRECTV4Schools fundraising program again this year. Through DIRECTV4Schools, our school will receive a cash contribution for every new, existing or returning DIRECTV customer who commits to a year of DIRECTV satellite television service using our school code. To participate, simply call 1-888-388-4724, use our school code 2DYX4 and sign up for DIRECTV today. Our schoolwill receive $100 for each new customer who orders and activates DIRECTV service and $50 for existing or returning customers who extend their current commitment to DIRECTV for one year.
Target’s Take Chare of Education Program: Target donates up to 1% of purchases made using a REDcard to eligible K-12 schools designated. Thrivent Choice: Zion Lutheran School is a participant in the Thrivent Financial Services gift matching program.
