These verses are taken from the English Standard Version.  On Wednesday, each verse will be WRITTEN DOWN before we go to chapel unless I specifically tell you differently ahead of time.  

8/22  Psalm 133:1 “How wonderful it is when all God’s people come together as one. .” AND Ephesians 5;1-2a “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love as Christ loved us and gave himself us for us.” 

8/28  1 Peter 1:18-19   “Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.”

9/4  Psalm 139:14-15 “I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. [a] Wonderful are your works;   my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth.”

9/11 Ephesians  2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” AND Psalm 118:26 “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.  We bless you from the house of the Lord.”

9/18  Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”  AND  John 20:31” but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name .”

10/2 Romans 4:3 “What does the scripture say?  ‘Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” AND 2 Corinthians 3:6  who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 

10/9 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness so the servant of God my thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

10/16 Mark 10:29-3129 Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, 30 who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life.  But many who are first will be last, and the last first.”

10/23 Matthew 25:23  “His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.” AND Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation,the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak”

10/30 Psalm 133:1 and Ephesians 5:1-2a 

11/6  Commandments 1-4 and Explanation to 1st Commandment “You shall have no other  gods before me” ,” You shall not take the name of the Lord, thy God, in vain”, “Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy”, and “Honor thy father and mother”

“You shall have no other gods.” What does this mean? We should fear, love, and trust God above all things.  You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God”. 

11/13  Commandments 5-8 “You shall not murder” “You shall not commit adultery” “You shall not steal” “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor”

11/20  Commandments 9 and 10 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house” “You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or his manservant, maidservant, his ox or donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor. 

11/26 TUESDAY  Romans 13:1 “ Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.AND Romans 13:4 “For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good.

12/4   Third Commandment and Explanation “Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy.” What does this mean?  We should fear and love God so that we do not despise preaching or God’s word, but instead keep that word holy and gladly hear and learn it.

12/11  4th Commandment and Explanation “ Honor your father and mother” What does this mean? We should fear and love God so that we do not despise or anger our parents and other authorities, but honor them, serve and obey them, love and cherish them. 

12/18 8th Commandment and Explanation “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor” What does this mean? “ We should fear and love God so that we do not tell lies about our neighbor, betray him, slander him or hurt his reputation, but defend him, speak well of him, and explain everything in the kindest way”

1/29 John 15:7-8  “If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given to you.  This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. 

2/5   Colossians 1:13-14 “He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sin.”  AND Psalm 19:14 “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O, Lord, my rock and my redeemer.

2/12  Luke 2:29-32 ““Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace,
    according to your word; for my eyes have seen your salvation
     that you have prepared in the presence of all peoples a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
    and for glory to your people Israel.” 

2/19   Romans 3:22-24 “the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction:  for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,

3/4  Psalm 32:1 “Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered.” AND Matthew 18:18 “ Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

 

4th Quarter

3/11  1st and 2nd Article  “I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth”  “ I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified , died and was buried.  He descended into hell. The third day He rose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven and sits at the right hand of God, the Father Almighty. From thence He will come to judge the living and the dead

3/18 3rd Article and ½ of Explanation  “I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Christian church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.”  What does this mean?  “I believe that I can not by my own reason or strength believe in Jesus Christ, my  Lord, or come to Him; but the Holy Spirit has called my by the Gospel, enlightened me with His gifts, sanctified and kept me in the true faith.”

3/25  Remainder of Explanation for 3rd Article  “In the same way He calls, gathers, enlightens, and sanctifies the whole Christian church on earth, and keeps it with Jesus Christ in the one true faith.   In this Christian church he daily and richly forgives all my sins and the sins of all believers. On the Last Day He will raise me and all the dead, and give eternal life to me and all believers in Christ.  This is most certainly true. 

4/8  Spring Break 

4/15 Psalm 95:1-3 Oh come, let us sing to the Lord;    let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!   Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;   let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!   For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods.

4/22  Matt 9:22 Jesus  turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly, the woman was made well. AND Romans 6:4  We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life 

4/29  1 Corinthians 11:25-26 “In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”  For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

5/6    Proverbs 4:4-5 “He taught me and said to me, “Let your heart hold fast my words;
    keep my commandments, and live.    Get wisdom; get insight; do not forget, and do not turn away from the words of my mouth”

5/13  Matt 10:32-33 “So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.
